Northern Edge Algonquin is proud to announce that we have been named a National Finalist for the Parks Canada Sustainable Tourism Award at the 2011 Canadian Tourism Awards.
Presented annually by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC), the Canadian Tourism Awards recognize excellence, innovation, and leadership across the country’s tourism industry. Being named a finalist places Northern Edge Algonquin among a small group of tourism operators recognized at the national level for their commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
About the Parks Canada Sustainable Tourism Award
The Parks Canada Sustainable Tourism Award celebrates tourism operators who demonstrate leadership in environmental stewardship, community engagement, and long-term sustainability, particularly in or near Canada’s protected natural areas.
As an off-grid, solar-powered retreat located at the northwest corner of Algonquin Park, sustainability has always been central to how Northern Edge Algonquin operates — from renewable energy systems and low-impact infrastructure to locally sourced food and programming designed to reconnect guests with land, self, and community.
National Recognition
We are honoured to be recognized alongside so many inspiring organizations working to strengthen Canada’s tourism industry through responsible and sustainable practices.
Looking Ahead
This national recognition affirms the values that have guided Northern Edge Algonquin since the beginning: thoughtful growth, environmental responsibility, and experiences that foster meaningful connection. We extend our sincere thanks to our guests, partners, and team members who make this work possible.
